Scan a barcode or snap a label. Food.FM gives every packaged food an open score you can check line by line, then tailors it to your allergies, health goals and the ingredients you’d rather avoid.
How it works
Step 1
Point your camera at any packaged food. Millions of products from the open Open Food Facts database, read straight from your browser on iPhone and Android. Not in the database? Snap the label instead.
Step 2
An open 0–100 score with every point explained, adjusted for your allergies and health goals, plus an FDA recall check and per-serving facts.
Step 3
See better options from the same aisle, ranked for you, or add it to today’s food log to track your totals.

Pick a product, then add a profile. This runs the exact scoring engine the app uses, right in your browser. Open Show the math to see where every point comes from.

Fair scoring
Most scanners count chemical-sounding names. Food.FM weighs nutrition, processing and real evidence, and explains each one.
50 · 30 · 20
Ultra-processed foods can’t be rated Excellent, however short their additive list.
⚖️
Citric acid and pectin cost nothing. Titanium dioxide, banned in the EU since 2022, costs 10 points, and we say why.
🥄
Hot sauce isn’t eaten by the cup. Condiments get a portion allowance, oils are judged on fat quality, and every product shows %DV per serving.
🔍
A product very high in sugar, salt or saturated fat can’t be averaged up to “Good” by its other numbers.
Made for you
Tell Food.FM what matters and every score becomes your score, with the reason for each adjustment spelled out.
Alternatives come from the same category (hot sauce for hot sauce, not “condiments”), are ranked for your profile, and never include anything you’re allergic to. Tell us where you shop and swaps reported at that store come first.
Add anything you scan to today’s log. See totals against FDA Daily Values (or the 1,500 mg DASH sodium target) and export a CSV for your dietitian.
US products are checked against FDA recall reports by barcode, every time you scan.
No account. Your profile, history and log live only on your phone. Photos are read, then discarded.
